CORONA PANDEMIC: Nature's Way to Heal Itself

Effects of lockdown on various social sectors

Effects of prolonged lockdown The current situation has forced more than two-thirds of the world to shut down their normal functioning and is forcing more and more people to stay confined within their homes and pursue work from there. As the pandemic is yet to be controlled and may stretch on indefinitely, here are some of the major changes that will affect us: Health Source- Google The health of the population will be compromised as there will be lesser opportunities to get out of their homes. People will be facing a shortage of supply in nutritious food items either due to lack of production, lack of transport, or lack of income. As people stay passive for long periods of time, food intake drastically increasing while sitting at home. If these conditions prevail for long, obesity, unfitness and other diseases related to these conditions will show a steep rise. It has already been reported that around 67% of the population has experienced a disruption in sleep patterns.

How Pandemics Have Changed The World Over The Years

 More than two-thirds of the world’s population is under the lockdown due to COVID-19 which has triggered panic across the globe, prompting travel bans, visa restrictions, and large-scale quarantines. Though it must be said that the death rate from COVID-19 is many times lower than the previous epidemics but one thing we should not forget is that the healthcare industry has changed drastically from the last pandemic which we had seen (i.e. the Spanish flu). ‘’’So, it is now a perfect time to look back and see how these pandemics shaped our present’’’: Source - Google BLACK DEATH (1346-1353)- Deadliest of all pandemics till now, Black Death or Bubonic Plague.  This pandemic claimed more than 200 million lives across the world. It had the following effect on the different aspect of our society: - Medicine : Although the Black Death highlighted the shortcomings of medical science in the medieval era, it also led to positive changes in the field of medicine. As described by Da
