Why Can’t I?

"My parents are now not supporting my studies. They don't want me to go to school. Why can't I study further? Just because I am poor?  Or just because I am a girl? We are living in the 21st century, but my parents seem to have not developed their mindset even now. They just want me to do labor and get married somewhere, but who will tell them that I want to complete my education and become something in my life. I feel that I would never be able to overcome the dark clouds of poverty in this life."

BJP Opens Bank Accounts for Poor Girls in Delhi

She hugged her teacher who asked the reason for her absentee - for many days and then started crying profusely as if all her dreams have shattered just in a moment.

This is the story of a 15-year-old, meritorious girl, Rani. She wants to study and become something in her life. She is dedicated and always tries to attend her classes against all odds. There may be so many girls like Rani around us, who are fighting with their families for their education, working hard daily to uplift their financial status in the society, struggling for their existence. Some succeed in this struggle because they get the support they want, while others are trapped and engulfed by the demon of dearth. This is only one example, more such loopholes are prevailing in our society :/

Many of you must be thinking that - what can we do? It's not our fault if they are born poor, everyone has their fate, and if it is written in their destiny to live a life full of sufferings then it can't be changed.  But isn't that our responsibility as a society to help our people in need? It's obvious that everyone is busy in their daily lives and don't have time to go to each house and help them in their problems, but there may be someone whom we meet daily, who might be in distress – may be due to their financial conditions, maybe due to a social barrier or may be due to some family orthodox. But we are just ignorant enough to make ourselves feel that everything is normal around us.

Corporate social responsibility is a growing concern for event ...
I feel it is just a lack of awareness that force some people not to change and be regressive in their mindset. Our only effort required is - to aware of such people around us. If we all do our part of the job for the society, then it would be a better place to be in – for you, me, and everyone around. I know many tell you the same thing I am, but the problem is if people would have followed the advice and have done their job towards the society, it was not required to be repeated multiple times. Don't run from your social responsibility, just do it with the same dedication you do any other important task as ultimately this will make your life better! There are many people who do if you don’t then you should ask yourself – “Why can’t I?

Superstitions

“WHAT?” “So, you are telling me that you lost the job because of a random black cat who crossed the road?” “YES.” The yes made me write this article. When Advik started preparing for this job interview two years ago, every single person of our society knew that he would make it. There was no doubt about it. Never thought he would lose it for reaching late, that too because of a cat. He is one of the most amazing persons I have ever met. I look up to him so many times. Hearing something like this from him is the last thing I expected. Superstitions are not new to any of us. They have been intertwined with us since forever. The above is just one of the many examples we hear every day. Debugging Superstitions Some deny them while some worship them. It is actually a personal outlook. They are neither myths nor boons but disoriented beliefs born out of ignorance and science causalities from the past. For example, Friday the 13 th is considered bad because of unfortunate...

Do you see it?

I am of the opinion that nature is an awfully simple institution and there is an infinite beauty to it. There aren’t an awful lot of rules that govern the nature. Actually, there is just the one - survival of the fittest. In spite of this, even the tiniest, the slowest, the most fragile forms of life have found a way to keep living in this home of ours, creating a beautiful, intricate balance that one cannot admire enough in a lifetime. It begs the question whether survival is really that difficult. When nature decides to inhabit a life form, it provides them with all the necessary resources for it to survive- food and water for sustenance, ability to perceive their surroundings for threats and intelligence for protection from those threats. The available resources are always more than enough for the fit to survive. The balance of nature is maintained if th...

Unwelcome!

It was evening time; the doorbell rang; my mother asked me to open the door. I opened the door and saw my uncle standing with his luggage, smiling at me. I invited him to come in and touched his feet as he proceeded. Everybody gathered - chit-chat began, Mumma was preparing tea, and suddenly out of nowhere, uncle asked me how my studies were going. I gave him an awkward smile and said that it was going well. I thought the conversation might end here, but he seemed more interested in my studies than me:') He further asked me that then in which year I am, I said in the final year. As soon as I said the word 'final' - I was able to see the light of enlightenment behind him and the innumerous life lessons he was going to give me. I prepared myself, one ear for the information to enter and the other to let it exit, mind blank, neck flexible to move up-down, and an expressionless face.    Then the unwanted career counseling began-    Round 1 - "The interview!"  ...
